Synopsis

This Fellowship report focuses on how the non-Indigenous teacher can facilitate culturally responsive learning in the VET space. Looking at strategies that range from organisation-wide to personal reflective practice, the report argues for the need to take a strengths-based approach to working with First Nations students and establish rigorous cultural education strategies for all staff working in the VET sector. It is argued that when VET teachers participate in a continual learning journey relating to their own cultural capability, a much more coherent and culturally responsive VET sector can be possible in Victoria.
